On June 21, 2009 the newly formed parish of Good Shepherd celebrated its first Mass. A month later on July 19th Archbishop Joseph Kurtz installed Rev. John Burke as pastor and blessed the new altar.

One of the more significant ministries to form after the merger was the Table of Plenty. It was the vision of pastor Fr. Buke to find a means to connect and serve the greater Portland community. Its director Bart Brauner and parishioner Janet McCauley solicited food donations and organized the staffing of volunteers to help prepare and serve meals to those in need. It operated for several years at Resurrection Hall on the former campus of St. Cecilia Church.
